Ronald J. Rieder, Ph.D., President & Founder
Dr. Rieder is an expert in differential systems for biological detection and is the founder of BioSense Technologies. Dr. Rieder is also the inventor of the BioSense Technologies Z-Sense™ bacterial detection technology, the basis of its rapid antibiotic susceptibility test system. Prior to founding BioSense Technologies and most recently MTB Diagnostics, Dr. Rieder worked at SatCon Technology, Visidyne, Inc. and was a senior scientist at American Science and Engineering. Dr. Rieder received a Ph.D. in Physics from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1985.
Boris Zavizion, Ph.D., Director of Biology
Dr. Zavizion joined BioSense Technologies in the fall of 2005 as leader of BioSense's microbiology effort and is co-inventor of the Z-Sense™ bacterial detection technology. Prior to joining BioSense, Dr. Zavizion was Principal Investigator, V.I. Technologies (formerly Pentose Pharmaceuticals) where he was the technical architect of their pathogen inactivation effort intended for use in blood products. Before entering industry, Dr. Zavizion was Assistant Professor at the University of Vermont and a Senior Research Faculty Fellow at Cornell University. Dr. Zavizion received his Ph.D. in cell biology, virology, and molecular biology from the Institute of Virology in Moscow, Russia in 1980 and has over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals.
